COVID-19 Info No.05

Category: COVID-19 EXTRA

Published: (Tue) 07 Apr 2020

The Japanese Government declared a state of emergency effective from 7 April and lasting through 6 May. This applies to Tokyo, Osaka and five other prefectures. As a consequence, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government requests all residents to stay at home and avoid all but essential trips outside, besides going to work, grocery shopping or hospital visits. While the state of emergency will enable local governors to implement further preventive measures, such as restricting the operation of schools and other facilities, the Government of Japan for now has not taken compulsory measures as seen in other countries. The previously mentioned support measures which were introduced on 28 March continue to apply during the state of emergency (see our information of 29/Mar/2020 in this section or click here).
